It's been only nine months since Kevin Costner filed for divorce from Cindy Costner, his wife of 16 years, but he already seems to be settling in with another woman. Costner's new girlfriend: Maria Snyder, a former Yves Saint Laurent model, now a jewelry-and-fashion designer in Manhattan. According to a well-placed source, Costner and Snyder are talking about living together as a first step toward possible marriage. The source also says that Snyder has known Costner for a few years, but the two never dated at any time during his marriage....

Over the July 4 holiday, Geena Davis and her husband, director Renny Harlin, hosted a lavish, two-day party for 80 of their closest friends and business associates at the couple's 26-acre estate in Montecito, Calif. Highlights included an outdoor, big-screen showing of the 1990 Italian film Cinema Paradiso and a trolley ride to a rented yacht in nearby Santa Barbara that took guests into the harbor for a fireworks display. Don't look for many familiar faces on next year's Saturday Night Live. Chris Farley and Adam Sandler have bolted the show to continue their movie careers. Farley is already at work on the lighthearted romp Black Sheep and has signed for the forthcoming comedy The Gelfin. Sandler's next film, also a comedy, is Happy Gilmore. As for Chris Elliott, Michael McKean, Jay Mohr, Tim Meadows, Laura Kightlinger, Molly Shannon and Morwenna Banks, their SNL contracts weren't picked up. In fact, of last year's group, only Mark McKinney, Norm MacDonald and David Spade are expected back in September....

Arnold Schwarzenegger has an assistant who carries around a large box of Cuban cigars so they're always close at hand when the boss wants one....

When producer Wendy Finerman (Forrest Gump) gave Brad Pitt the screenplay for The Fan, a thriller about a baseball fan's obsession with a player, she hoped Pitt would be interested in playing the ballplayer. But he seemed more interested in the role of the fan, so the deal didn't get done. Finerman then offered the part of the player to Denzel Washington. He said no, but Wesley Snipes said yes. The role of the fan has been offered to Robert De Niro, who seems close to accepting....

And finally, Richard Gere's contemporary portrayal of Sir Lancelot in the new romantic epic First Knight has Hollywood wags calling the movie Looking for Mr. Goodknight.
