In his first sitcom, standup comedian Louie Anderson plays a psychotherapist working at an HMO in Duluth. In fact, the show feels something like a therapy session with 20 minutes sheared off. Anderson kicks off the program by walking onto the set and telling the studio audience about how much he has wanted a sitcom and how much their laughter is appreciated. He is doing what no entertainer should do: pleading for validation. But the humor turns out to be gently low-key, and I like Anderson's delivery, which tends' toward peevishness but falls short of whine. Hey, I'm okay, you're okay, and Louie's okay.
