Picks and Pans Review: Project: Alf
This hilarious sendup of the alien craze is a lot fresher than 3rd Rock from the Sun. ALF, star of the 1986-90 sitcom, is subjected to a series of cruel and unusual military experiments and emerges with his appetite for catburgers intact. Two officers then kidnap him in a pink Cadillac to protect him from the alien-hating Col. Gilbert Milfoil (Martin Sheen). On the road they have lots of adventures; I especially loved the Showgirls scene in the Kitty Kat Lounge, where ALF, disguised in L.L. Bean, tries to order his favorite dish. A note to parents: there are several toilet jokes and references to Uranus, but nothing your kids can't explain.
