Veteran actor Martin ELJ Balsam, 76, was found dead of a stroke on Feb. 13 in a hotel in Rome. A New York City native, Balsam, remembered for his role as the ill-fated detective in Hitchcock's 1960 thriller Psycho, made his film debut as an investigator in 1954's On the Waterfront. An original member of the Actors Studio, Balsam won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1965's A Thousand Clowns and appeared in dozens of films, including 1957's 12 Angry Men and 1970's Catch-22.

Broken Arrow's John Travolta, 42, and wife Kelly Preston, 33, are being sued by Bob Cohen, the owner of a Beverly Hills home they rented, for allegedly damaging furniture, antiques and artworks during their occupancy from September 1994 to July 1995. The suit, filed Feb. 6 in Los Angeles superior court, seeks $500,000 in damages....

On Feb. 13, a New York City jury found that actress-author Joan Collins, 62, had delivered one of the two books called for in her $4 million, two-book contract with Random House. It is unclear if Collins, who can keep the $1.3 million advance she received in 1990 from the publisher, will collect the additional $2.7 million. The publishing house, which had sued to have the advance returned, rejected her manuscripts as unpublishable. Collins countersued, saying she was only obligated to submit two complete books.

Actor Dudley Moore, 160, suffered cuts and bruises on Jan. 22 when his Lexus skidded off a Colorado mountain road near Telluride during a blizzard and slid 150 feet down a hill. Moore, who was wearing his seat belt, did not require medical treatment and performed a piano concert the following day....

Former World Boxing Organization heavyweight champion Tommy Morrison, 27, was suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Feb. 10 after a positive HIV test. The boxer, a grandnephew of actor John Wayne (born Marion Morrison), had a supporting role in the 1990 film Rocky V. "I am fine," the fighter said in a statement. "I feel it would be selfish to ask you to say a prayer for me."

Country rocker Travis Travis, 33, is heading to the altar for a third time. The bride-to-be is model Theresa Nelson, 33. No wedding date has been set.

Comedian Martin Lawrence, 30, and his wife, Patricia, 25, a former Miss Virginia, had their first child, Jasmine Page (6 lbs., 13 ozs.), on Jan. 15 at L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center....

Actor Richard Moll, 53, Night Court's hulking, bald bailiff, and his wife, Susan, 34, a fashion designer who is the stepdaughter of Milton Berle, had their second child, Mason Charles (8 lbs., 12 ozs.), at Santa Monica Hospital on Feb. 6.

On Valentine's Day, the artist formerly known as Prince, 37, married one of his dancers, Mayte Garcia (age unavailable), in Minneapolis. It is the first marriage for both.
