Picks and Pans Review: One West Waikiki
Cheryl Ladd plays a poised medical examiner; Richard Burgi is a smart-alecky homicide cop. Thrown together in Hawaii, they're soon exchanging repartee. "I've come across decomposed bodies that are less offensive than you are," she tells him. Is that romance in the air, or formaldehyde?
Unless it turns you on to hear Ladd dictate autopsies, this summer tryout series doesn't have much to offer. The plotting is painfully labored, and the dialogue bounces from fatuously breezy to unspeakably ponderous without ever coming within shouting range of believable.
