Singer Dorothy Collins, 67, died on July 21 of a heart attack at her home in Watervliet, N.Y. Collins was a star for eight years of the 1950s hit television show Your Hit Parade. She also appeared on Candid Camera between 1961 and 1963. In 1971 she was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in Stephen Sondheim's Follies on Broadway. Collins, who was once married to Your Hit Parade bandleader Raymond Scott, retired in 1980....

Sen. Hugh Scott, 93, a moderate Republican from Pennsylvania who served in Congress for 34 years, died from cardiac arrest on July 21 in a retirement home in Falls Church, Va. Scott was Senate minority leader during the Watergate era and was a staunch supporter of Richard Nixon.

Dancer and actor Gene Kelly, 81, is in stable condition and resting comfortably at a Los Angeles hospital following a mild stroke on July 23. Kelly, who starred in Singin' in the Rain in 1952, most recently appeared as the host of That's Entertainment! Ill....

Actress Lana Turner, 74, who has been battling throat cancer for two years, is being treated for a recurrence of the disease in Cedars Sinai Medical Center in L.A. Turner, best remembered for Peyton Place (1957), has been in semiretirement since the early '80s.

Supermodel Niki Taylor, 19, and Matt Martinez, 24, a former linebacker for Arena football's Miami Hooters, said "I do" for the second time on July 23 at the home of Martinez's father, near McCammon, Idaho. The couple, who are expecting their first child in December, were first married in a private ceremony in January in Las Vegas. The second service was conducted in front of 245 guests....

On July 18, Dolores O'Riordan, 22, lead singer of the pop group the Cranberries, wed Don Burton, 32, assistant tour manager for Duran Duran. The groom arrived at the 900-year-old Holy Cross Abbey in Thurles, Ireland, on a black stallion, the bride in a horse-drawn cart.

On July 19 a physical battery lawsuit for an undisclosed sum was filed against actor James Caan, 54, by actress Leesa Anne Rowland, 29, in L.A. superior court. Rowland claims that on May 15, at the Century City Inn, Caan punched her several times, picked her up by the neck with both of his hands, choking her, and threw her into the hallway. Caan's attorney had no comment....

Madonna, 35, has obtained a temporary restraining order against Todd Lawrence, 26, who has allegedly been stalking the singer by showing up repeatedly at her Los Angeles estate. Court papers filed by Madonna in L.A. superior court state that on July 19, Lawrence, appearing "drunk and delusional," climbed the fence, rang the doorbell and claimed to be Madonna's husband. He was arrested by local police. The restraining order bars Lawrence from going within 100 yards of Madonna, her home or her office.

Revlon cosmetics tycoon Ron Perelman, 51, and his fiancée, Democratic political activist Patricia Duff, 40, are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first child in January. Perelman has four grown children from his marriage to Faith Golding, and Samantha, 4, by his second wife, entertainment reporter Claudia Cohen. Duff and film executive Michael Medavoy are in the process of divorcing.
