Her role as a British fashion editor in Robert Altman's upcoming film Prêt-à-Porter was a perfect fit for the clothes-crazy actress. But Ullman, 34, is less concerned with fashion than style. "I can't just wear plain, simple clothes," she insists. Especially fond of the outré couture of Jean-Paul Gaultier, she says, "His clothes are talking points. There's always something people comment on." Naturally, she prefers compliments to criticism. "You have to understand your body," she says. "I won't wear a bikini anymore—I've had two children, you know. And I won't wear miniskirts, either. There's nothing worse than somebody's cellulite in your face."
