Color Scheme

UPDATED 09/19/1994 at 01:00 AM EDT Originally published 09/19/1994 at 01:00 AM EDT

Who says royal minds no longer think alike? The Queen's clan likes to be in sync from head to well-shod toe. Of course, Elizabeth has always gone for the dyed-to-match look, but now the younger generation is picking up the monotone—cool ivory for the Linleys, crimson for Di. The question is whether the color cloning is deliberate. Ken Fleetwood, managing director of Hardy Amies, one of the Queen's couture houses, dismisses the notion: "I'm not privy to their late-night calls, but I doubt it." Adds John Anderson, who designs for the Queen Mum: "They are guided solely by taste." Cynics, however, suspect a plot.
