A prodigal son (Eric Close) with the craggy name of Brick McKenna returns to Oregon to help with the family's wilderness-adventure company. As Close's father (Chad Everett of Medical Center) notes of their city-slicker customers: "You gotta make 'em believe they're Jeremiah Johnson. That's what they pay for." But festering between the two is the accidental death of the McKennas' elder, favored son.

The show, a somewhat stagnant tributary of A River Runs Through It, features beautiful scenery and has a familiar TV face in Everett. But this series will rise or fall depending on whether Close can achieve heartthrob status. The kid has definite star voltage, of a Tom Cruise variety. But this series is a little too damp and wholesome to ignite his career.
