The Mighty Cos returns as Guy Hanks, the casually suave, semi-retired Manhattan criminologist-forensics expert he played in a TV movie last season. Oh, there's one new twist: Hanks hit the lottery for $40 million at some unspecified earlier date, making him TV's first filthy rich crime fighter since Amos Burke of Burke's Law.

The whimsical mystery has a solid supporting cast: James Naughton as Hanks's police liaison, Rita Moreno as his housekeeper, Dante Beze as his legman and the vibrant Lynn Whitfield as the bantering romantic interest.

The series is a flimsy vehicle, but Cosby's imperishable charm makes it seem like a cushy ride. If for no other reason, it's worth tuning in just to see Dr. Bill's spiffy wardrobe.
