Roseanne, 41, and her 6'3", 260-lb. bodyguard beau Ben Thomas, 28, are engaged to be wed the day after her divorce from second husband Tom Arnold is final. This will be the first marriage for Thomas, who began guarding Roseanne two years ago and started dating her last summer in Europe....

Actress Holly Hunter, 36, who won an Oscar for The Piano, and Janusz Kaminski, 35, Oscar-winning cinematographer for Schindler's List, are engaged to be married. This will be Hunter's first trip to the altar. Schindler director Steven Spielberg played matchmaker last March after Kaminski revealed he had a crush on Hunter.

Actor Raul Julia, 54, Gomez in the Addams Family movies, suffered a stroke on Oct. 16 in Manhattan. A spokesman said Julia's doctors are "very optimistic" about his condition. Julia co-starred in the 1985 screen version of Kiss of the Spider Woman and last August completed Street Fighter, an action flick based on the popular video game.

Eddie Murphy, 33, and wife Nicole, 26, a model, welcomed their third child, daughter Shayne Audra (6 lbs. 13 ozs.) on Oct. 10 at a hospital in Englewood, N.J. The couple, married last year, also have Bria, 4, and Myles, almost 2....

Elvira, 43, star of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, and her husband and manager, Mark Pierson, 39, had their first child, Sadie Leigh (7 lbs. 13 ozs.) on Oct. 12 in Los Angeles. Elvira, whose real name is Cassandra Peterson, had hoped the child would arrive on Halloween....

Gillian Anderson, 26, special agent Dana Scully on Fox's The X-Files, and her husband, Errol Clyde Klotz, 33, a Canadian art director, are parents of their first child, daughter Piper (8 lbs. 10 ozs.), born Sept. 25 in Vancouver, B.C....

Dateline NBC correspondent Faith Daniels, 37, and her husband, Dean Daniels, 37, a CBS News executive, have adopted a 2-month-old daughter, Aidan Rose. They already have Andrew, 7, and a daughter, Alyx, 4.

Olympic gold-medal triple jumper Al Joyner, 34, was awarded $51,501 on Oct. 12 by a U.S. District Court jury in Los Angeles. Joyner had sued four L.A. police officers, claiming they inflicted "serious emotional harm" when they pulled him over on Sunset Boulevard on May 8, 1992, and questioned him at gunpoint. Joyner maintained they did so only because he is black; the officers said they mistakenly believed Joyner had been driving a stolen car....

Alfonso P. Cacace, 49, who says he took care of actor Peter Falk's mother, Madeline, 92, for two years, has been accused by Manhattan prosecutors of stealing more than $3 million worth of money, bonds, jewelry and antiques from her. His lawyer says the allegations "are motivated by resentment" because Cacace "cared for Mrs. Falk in the absence of her family members." In 1992, Falk had placed her in a nursing home because of her poor health. Prosecutors say Cacace had her discharged three months later without her son's knowledge. Falk, who lives in L.A., won't comment.

Bruno Hauptmann's widow, Anna, 95, who spent much of her life trying to clear her husband's name after his execution in 1936 for the kidnap-murder of Charles Lindbergh's infant son, died Oct. 10 in a hospital in Lancaster, Pa. Hauptmann steadfastly maintained her husband's innocence, claiming he was with her the night of the abduction.
