Old TV series never die these days. They just return as TV movies. Now it's C&L's chance to go where everyone from the Six Million Dollar Man to Gilligan has gone before. After six years, Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly revive their roles as buddy cops, with mixed results. The chemistry between Gless and Daly is still there (see story, page 130). But the contrived plot, which has Gless's Cagney investigating stolen guns, is uninvolving. It's only there to reunite Cagney with Lacey, who has retired from the force. Whenever the movie turns from Gless and Daly's interplay to the actual story, it becomes as routine as, say, Jake and the Fatman: They're Back!
