NBC (Mon., Nov. 14, 9 p.m. ET)

So delighted is the Peacock Network with the glowing success of E.R., don't be surprised if they use it as a template and every NBC movie for the rest of the year is a trenchant, realistic medical drama like this one. Veronica Hamel plays a new top doc at a Denver hospital. In a thin plot based on actual cases, she treats a boy whose bizarre symptoms and unexpected relapses have her stumped. Eventually she arrives at a shocking and controversial diagnosis that involves the young patient's devoted mother (Mork & Mindy's Pam Dawber).

Hamel is quite convincing as a doctor. After years of banging around after Hill Street Blues, she may have finally found her TV niche as a medico. Another once familiar TV actor, Daniel Hugh Kelly, continues his recent reemergence as Hamel's colleague.
