Actor Lionel Stander, 86, who played the jovial chauffeur Max on ABC's Hart to Hart from 1979 to 1984, died of lung cancer Nov. 30 at his home in L.A. Though his early credits included A Star Is Born (1937), Stander's film career stalled in the 1940s because of his outspoken political stances, and he was eventually blacklisted during the McCarthy era. He returned to films in 1965. His last project, the TV movie Hart to Hart: The Locket, will air on NBC in February.

Actress Sean Young, 35, and husband Robert Lujan, 35, an actor, welcomed their first child, a son, Rio Kelly (8 lbs. 6 ozs.) on Nov. 22 in Flagstaff, Ariz....

Singer Gloria Estefan, 37, and her producer-husband, Emilio, 41, greeted Emily Marie (6 lbs. 14 ozs.) on Dec. 5 in a hospital in Miami. They have a son, Nayib, 14....

Spike Lee, 37, and his lawyer-wife, Tonya, 33, had daughter Satchel Lewis (6 lbs. 5 ozs.) on Dec. 2 at a New York City hospital.

Tom Cruise, 32, filed a $10 million suit against Philips Interactive Media of America on Dec. 1 in L.A. superior court, claiming the company used unauthorized footage of him from Top Gun in ads for their new Magnavox video recorder....

Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss, 28, was convicted on Dec. 2 in L.A. superior court of supplying three prostitutes to undercover officers in a 1993 police sting. She faces a prison sentence of three to eight years. Fleiss, however, was found innocent of selling cocaine to an undercover cop. She and her father, Paul, also face trial in January on federal tax-fraud and money-laundering charges....

Rapper Tupac Shakur, 23, was found guilty on Dec. 1 in Manhattan's supreme court of sexually abusing a woman last year in a New York City hotel room. Shakur, who was seriously wounded on Nov. 30 during a robbery, was cleared of sodomy and weapons-possessions charges....

Former Presbyterian minister Paul Hill, 40, who was convicted in November of murdering Dr. John Britton, 69, and his escort outside an abortion clinic last July, was sentenced on Dec. 6 in circuit court in Pensacola, Fla., to die in the electric chair. His death sentence will automatically be appealed. Hill also has been sentenced to two life terms for violating a new federal law that prohibits blocking access to clinics....

Fallen TV evangelist Jim Bakker, 54, who spent five years in jail for bilking $158 million from his PTL ministry, became a free man again on Dec. 1. Bakker spent the last three months of his sentence under house arrest in Hendersonville, N.C. No word on his future plans, but the terms of his sentence bar him from conducting a ministry on TV.

With the help of artificial insemination, Dudley Moore, 59, and his wife, Nicole Rothschild, 30, are expecting their first child in July. Moore has a son, Patrick, 18, from his earlier marriage to actress Tuesday Weld; Rothschild has two children, Lauren, 7, and Christopher, 6, from her previous marriage....

Roseanne, 41, and fiancé Ben Thomas, 28, her former chauffeur, are expecting a baby in August. The couple plan to marry on Valentine's Day. Roseanne, who used in-vitro fertilization to become pregnant, has Jessica, 19, Jennifer, 18, and Jake, 16, from the first of her two marriages, to Bill Pentland, and Brandi, 23, from a previous relationship, whom she gave up for adoption but was reunited with in 1989.

Broadway composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, 46, was admitted to a London hospital on Dec. 2 for treatment of an ulcer in his esophagus. He will be released when he no longer requires intravenous feeding.
