Picks and Pans Review: Viewer's Choice

>DAYS OF FUTURE PAST IT'S TIME TO CONSIDER TWO ACTION SEries that almost snuck in under my radar. Pointman (syndicated; check local listings) stars Jack Scalia as an ex-con (he was framed) who is now a trouble-shooter, a modern paladin. This frothy adventure, redolent of '70s TV, has a certain insouciant charm. TekWar, on USA (Mondays, 10 p.m. ET), stars Greg Evigan (My Two Dads) as an ex-con (he was framed) in the 21st century. He works for a philanthropist, played by sci-fi writer and ex-Starfleet commander William Shatner. The futuristic effects are infuriatingly uneven. The coolest thing about TekWar is Evigan's obliterating pulse-gun. But a weapon is a thin prop to hinge a series on. Then again, The Rifleman did all right for itself.
