>WHEN MOM HAS CANCER

In a remarkable display of synchronicity, the two network series devoted to adolescents, ABC's Afterschool Special and CBS's Schoolbreak Special, are both presenting dramas concerning the impact of a mother's breast cancer on her teenage daughter. In ABC's Notes for My Daughter (Thurs., April 6, 4 p.m. ET), Mom (Kate Burton) tries to keep her 13-year-old daughter (Grace Johnston) from worrying about her as chemotherapy exacts its toll. More charged and mature is CBS's Between Mother and Daughter (Tues., April 11,4 p.m. ET), featuring A.J. Langer of My So-Called Life as a 16-year-old whose tumultuous relationship with her mom (Lindsay Crouse) is altered after cancer is diagnosed. Dan Lauria {Amazing Grace) and Christopher Daniel Barnes (The Brady Bunch Movie) costar.
