She's back. Mascara queen Tammy Faye Messner (formerly Bakker) may be getting another shot at cohosting a television talk show. On March 31, Twentieth TV, a division of Fox, taped a 1-hour pilot for a syndicated daily show, The Jim J. and Tammy Faye Show, cohosted by Tammy Faye and stand-up comic Jim J. Bullock (Too Close for Comfort). The scariest bit of news to come out of the taping is Messner's plan to regularly feature herself singing. A source close to the project jokingly compared Tammy Faye's on-camera style to "Kathie Lee Gifford as seen through the eyes of Federico Fellini."...

Steven Seagal's Oscar date, recent college graduate Arissa Wolf, turns out to be the 20-year-old daughter of Seagal's neighbors in Santa Barbara, Calif. "It would be wrong to call Arissa Mr. Seagal's new girlfriend," says Seagal's rep, "but they are dating." Seagal has been officially separated from wife Kelly LeBrock since last fall....

Now that Chastity Bono, the daughter of Cher and her ex, Rep. Sonny Bono, has come out and declared her homosexuality, she's really opening that closet door. Not only is the 26-year-old aspiring rocker on the cover of the current issue of the gay biweekly The Advocate, she also has a one-line cameo in Bar Girls, a low-budget lesbian romance that was scheduled to open nationally last Friday. In the movie she plays a patron at a gay bar. She did the part as a favor to Girls screenwriter-producer Lauran Hoffman, a pal A who appeared in Chastity's music video. Sonny and Cher's reaction to their daughter's public coming out: They both say they're supportive....

The May 21 cliff-hanger episode of The Simpsons is titled "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" It's a spoof of the famous "Who Shot J.R.?" episode on Dallas, and it involves C. Montgomery Burns, the oddly lovable sadist who is Homer's boss. Simpsons creator Matt Groening says a number of endings were done to mislead people close to the animated series. "Even those who think they know the outcome don't," says Groening. Fox is planning a summer marketing blitz complete with "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" T-shirts....

Speaking of season-enders and send-ups, the May 18 finale of NBC's Mad About You will be a 1-hour parody of Frank Capra's classic Christmas movie, It's a Wonderful Life. Costars Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt will experience what would have happened to their characters, Paul and Jamie, had they never met....

David Letterman may have persuaded stars including Madonna, Danny DeVito, Steve Martin, Tom Hanks and Paul Newman to take part in the Oscar telecast's taped "Would Ya Like to Buy a Monkey?" sketch, which spoofed the single line of dialogue Letterman had in the movie Cabin Boy (1994). But among those declining Letterman's entreaties were President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton....

Chynna Phillips and sisters Carnie and Wendy Wilson have begun talking about reforming their singing group, Wilson Phillips. Their last album together, Shadows and Light, came out in 1992....

And finally, Frank Sinatra's daughter Nancy reportedly said she obtained her father's blessing to appear naked in the May issue of Playboy. Not true. And the old man's not the least bit happy about it, either. When I asked for his reaction to the eight-page pictorial of his 54-year-old daughter in the altogether, Sinatra's statement was a simple, "No comment—figure it out yourself." Ouch.
