Picks and Pans Review: Brideshead Had Viewers Minding Manors

Drifting across 12½ hours of PBS like a fine British mist, Brides-head Revisited filled American heads with dreams of manicured estates and exquisite aristocratic languor. The sumptuous adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's 1944 novel about the rich yet miserable Flyte family was spiced with hints of lust between writer Charles Ryder (Jeremy Irons) and dissolute, teddy-toting Lord Sebastian (Anthony Andrews). Oddly enough, says Andrews, 46, "the teddy came from Maine."
