Though hog wild, The Tonight Show's, Jay Leno climbed off his bike and took a step in the right direction at L.A.'s recent Earth Walk. Leno, whose ratings should rev up now that late-night competitor Arsenio Hall has called it quits, had a gas.

Cash registers some Depp perception: Johnny Depp and girlfriend model Kate Moss, the icons of Generation X, were guests of Johnny Cash and his wife, June Carter, when country's rough-cut crooner gave an invitation-only concert at Fez, a downtown boîte in New York City.

Pet peeve: Former Saturday Night Lifer Dana Carvey ruffed up his Clean Slate costar Barkley, a Jack Russell terrier, while promoting the comedy, which opens May 6. Carvey plays a gumshoe dogged by a mob boss.

'Hood wink: Gangsta rapper Ice-T escorted his wife, Darlene, to the L.A. premiere of his new action adventure, Surviving the Game. Next up for the Ice man: a new album called Ice-T 6: Return of the Real, due out this summer.

Peter Norton, who struck a chord as thirty-something's laid-back college professor, had nothing to fret about at a Democratic rally in downtown L.A. Horton, who starred in the recent TV movie Children of the Dark, has been directing TV pilots, including this year's Birdland.
