Richard Dean Anderson returns as the character he played on ABC for seven years, the Rube Goldberg of tabletop physics, the Merlin of found objects. Yes, it's MacGyver, who can turn a shoelace and a carton of skim milk into a particle accelerator.

His new adventure is more than a little derivative of Indiana Jones. In fact, my wife wandered into the office when I was reviewing this, watched without great interest for about three minutes and said, "What is this? MacGyver in the Temple of Doom?"

Just about, Mary. Still, this knockoff is decent escapist fare.
