When it comes to fashion, Hillary Clinton, wife of Democratic nominee Hill Clinton, is, well, democratic. "She's not extravagant; she shops in department stores," says Cliff Chally, the Designing Women costume designer who refreshed Mrs. Clinton's wardrobe before July's Democratic National Convention. Chally recommended a few St. John knits ("They travel like a dream") for the size-8 Clinton, 44, who, he says, "has simple, classic taste." In that spirit, PEOPLE asked four top designers to deck her out for the rest of the campaign.
