Picks and Pans Review: Ghostwriter

Set in Brooklyn, this original, ingenuous weekly series from the makers of Sesame Street uses a young, ethnically diverse cast and a junior detective formal to stimulate reading and writing skills. Mysteries—arson at the video store, toxic dumping at the community garden, etc.—get solved over four-or five-episode ares.

Designed for a slightly older crowd than Reading Rainbow (specifically, ages 7-10), the show is like a fresh video version of The Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew.
