IT'S THE BELTER VS. THE CROONER this week as the spotlight falls on two pop singers of different generations and styles. NBC presents This Is Michael Bolton (Wed., Oct. 28, 10 P.M. ET), a video valentine that mixes concert and casual at-home footage, in the same style as the network's Garth Brooks special last winter. Bolton, the singer with the bleeding-heart timbre and leather-lunged delivery, huffs and puffs through selections from his new album, Timeless, and such previous hits as "Love Is a Wonderful Thing" and "Time, Love & Tenderness."
On Sunday (Nov. 1, 9 P.M. ET), the Disney Channel premieres Paul McCartney: Get Back, a concert film shot at various stops on the ex-Beatle's 1990 world tour. On some songs ("Band on the Run" and "Yesterday") McCartney's voice is thick and slightly ragged, but most of the time he's the usual Saint Paulie of the pure pipes. He still has that inexhaustible puppy-dog charm, and on this tour he drew heavily on the old crowd-pleasing Beatles material, including "Can't Buy Me Love" and "Let It Be."
