NOW NESTLED IN NEW FOUR-STORY MONACO VILLA, Princess Stephanie, 27, and her lover, Daniel Ducruet, 28, seem to be taking to parenthood in a big way. "We're completely gaga," says Ducruet, a former Grimaldi family bodyguard who now runs an import-export business. Echoes Mom: "Totally so."
Louis Robert Paul Ducruet, born Nov. 26, was named after Grimaldi family forebears, presumably to please Steph's father, Prince Rainier. Stephanie denies reports that her dad has been icy about the out-of-wedlock birth, insisting, "There was never a conflict, nor a dispute." If and when she and Ducruet marry, she adds, "our families will both be present."
With a new heir to care for, Ducruet says he will cut down on his hang gliding. Stephanie, who has tried singing, modeling, perfume promotion and swimsuit design—because, as she once said, "Princess is not a profession"—now believes that motherhood is. "I have a man who loves me, and then I have a marvelous son," she says. "They are the center of my life. I couldn't be happier."
