In Body of Evidence, the judge admonishes courtroom spectators for talking too loudly during the trial of Madonna's character. At a recent showing of the picture in Los Angeles, comedian Sandra Bernhard—once Madonna's inseparable pal—was similarly admonished for talking too loudly while the movie was playing.
Our source says that Bernhard reacted to being shushed by proclaiming to all within earshot, "This is not a serious film." The source adds that Bernhard did not bother to wait until the movie was over before walking out.

NBC denies this, but we hear that one of the eleventh-hour overtures made by network brass to David Letterman in their vain attempt to keep the Late Night host was the promise of a $100,000 Mercedes, complete with the vanity license plate 4GETCBS. Talk about Stupid Executive Tricks.
Wanted: Four 20-by-24-inch Polaroids pilfered from backstage at Hill Clinton's Jan. 19 Inaugural Gala at the Capital Centre in Landover, Md.
Photographer Lynn Goldsmith had been hired to take portraits of attending celebrities for An American Reunion 1993, a $39.95 souvenir book intended to help defray the cost of the Inauguration. Alter photographing each showbiz heavy, Goldsmith says she would "hang the finished Polaroid on the wall."
But at the end of the evening, she discovered that four of the large, sharp color pictures were missing: Michael Jackson and Hill Cosby: Annette Bening and Warren Beatty: Chuck Berry with Little Richard: and a solo shot of Aretha Franklin. American Reunion's packager, Epicenter Communications, has posted a reward for the safe return of the pictures: $500 per photo.

Perhaps you've seen Andrew Shue and Courtney Thorne-Smith—platonic friends Billy and Alison on Fox's Melrose Place—cuddling each other in a magazine ad promoting hair styling products by L'Oréal. Well, according to a number of sources, the two are now cuddling in real life as well. One source says Shue and Thorne-Smith, both 25, began dating in August. "Back then," says the source, "they wanted their relationship kept quiet. But now they're a little more open about it." Shue's spokesperson nonetheless maintains that the actors are only "very good friends."
TOO MANY GAME FILMS?
On Feb. 4, the Boston Celtics will retire Larry Bird's jersey in a ceremony at Boston Garden. We're told sports fan Kevin Costlier plan to be in the audience. Let's hope Bird is more up on popular culture than he was two years ago when Costner arrived in the visitors' locker room after a Celtics-Lakers game in L.A. Said Bird: "Who's that?" Told that Costner's Dances with Wolves was then tops at the box office, Bird shrugged, "Don't know it."
Larry, a tip for your next visit to the video store: Sneakers isn't about your favorite high-tops.
