Andie MacDowell stuck close to her model hubby, Paul Qualley—who wouldn't?—at the L.A. opening of her latest film, Groundhog Day. Meanwhile her Groundhog costar, iron man Hill Murray, allowed a few extra strokes from a spectator before he placed second (to John Denver) at the annual celeb golf shoot-out at Pebble Beach, Calif. Other celebrity golfers included Clint Eastwood, Jack Lemmon and Craig T. Nelson.

Richard Gere, who plays a returned Confederate soldier in the post-Civil War romance Sommersby, showed fresh battle scars at the flick's L.A. premiere. Gere (flanked by wife Cindy Crawford, left, and costar Jodie Foster) recently broke his elbow horseback riding.

Part activist, part ingenue, k.d. lang laced up her (non-leather) combat boots for a People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' "Fur Is a Drag" benefit at Manhattan's Hard Rock Cafe. She sang her hit single "Miss Chatelaine" dressed in animal-friendly chiffon.

Eartha Delights: Boomerang's Eartha Kitt got a congratulatory kiss from her daughter, model kitt Shapiro, after opening her cabaret act at the Cafe Carlyle in New York City. Others in the audience included fellow singers Art Garfunkel and Taylor Dayne.
