Model-actress Carré Otis called, wondering how any friend of hers could have told us that Otis's seven-month marriage to actor Mickey Rourke was kaput (PEOPLE, Feb. 22). It's not true, she says.
"Everybody has stormy times," says Otis, who has been with Rourke for more than three years. "We are staying together. Mickey and I are stuck together like glue."
THE AXE MURDERER GETS CHOPPED
So I Married an Axe Murderer, the first film to be made by Saturday Night Live star Mike Myers since Wayne's World raked in $120 million at the box office, is getting some bad word-of-mouth in Hollywood. We're hearing from sources who attended early screenings that the comedy, which also stars The Vanishing's Nancy Travis, just isn't funny.
According to a highly placed source at TriStar, however, reports that Axe Murderer is in trouble are not true. But the source did say that both the movie's beginning and ending are going to be reshot prior to its scheduled Aug. 6 release date.
THEY BOTH HAVE ONE NAME
When Prince canceled out at the last minute on the BRIT music awards (the British Grammys) in London, the show's producers asked Cher if she would accept Prince's Best International Solo Artist award on his behalf. She agreed in spite of the fact that she has never met Prince. Says Cher: "They lost a Prince but gained a queen."
FRAME IS FLEETING
Talk about truth in advertising. In the coming attractions for the movie The Temp, Laura Flynn Boyle, dressed in a white nightgown, threatens Timothy Hutton with a knife as he awakens from a dream. When the thriller opened last month, the scene was now here to be seen.
Gregory Peck, 76, may have starred in more than 50 movies and won an Oscar in 1962 for To Kill a Mockingbird, but try telling that to the MTV generation. "Recently a junior high school English teacher in Pennsylvania sent me 20 essays from students who read To Kill a Mockingbird and then watched the video," says Peck. "Several of them wrote, 'We never heard of you. What other movies have you done?' "
WHEN IT RAINS...
Janet Jackson's Malibu house was reported to have cost her $4.5 million, but that didn't keep her roof from leaking during Los Angeles' recent drenching rains. Although we would like to imagine Jackson hastily arranging Tupperware under the leaks, it didn't quite happen that way. Instead, our spies report spotting a man covering portions of her roof with a protective, blue plastic tarp.
