One for the Road

THERE WERE WET EYES APLENTY AFTER TAPING THE LAST EPISODE, BUT ONE night later the cast of TV's Cheers came to party heartily before parting ways for the final time. The troupe, who had beered, teared and laughed their way through 275 episodes of the hit NBC series, gathered at Santa Monica's Museum of Flying on April 8 for a wrap party with 825 guests, including former NBC chief Grant Tinker, who launched the show in 1982, and Casey Danson, estranged wife of series star Ted Danson. While Los Lobos kept the dance floor filled, caterers tended to nine food tables toasting the show's major characters (among them: Norm's Hungry Heifer, Rebecca's Just Desserts and Tortelli's Trattoria). But wait, no beer nuts? No matter. With the series destined for years of reruns—and residuals—the barmates will probably be eating caviar for the foreseeable future.
