You know what makes your skin glow?" asks Janine Turner, touting a prescription that your dermatologist probably hasn't suggested lately. "Sex. If you don't have that, go horseback riding." Her character, sassy bush pilot Maggie O'Connell of CBS's hit series Northern Exposure, seemed hot to trot when she finally hit the hay with Dr. Joel Fleischman (Rob Morrow) in February.
Although Turner, 30, who lives in Seattle when filming, has taken off on Exposure, she almost didn't land the job. "There was a moment," she recalls, "when I was told I was too pretty." Most men don't find that a negative. She was briefly engaged to Alec Baldwin and was for several years entangled with Baryshnikov. More recently, Sly Stallone tapped her to costar in Cliffhanger, due out May 28. As for Morrow, he finds her equally appealing when she arrives on the set each morning "with her glasses and no makeup, her hair messy." The Fort Worth-reared former model is growing out her cropped brunet locks, although she won't go as far as when she was a regular on the Lone Star beauty pageant circuit. "I had a Farrah Fawcett do," she laughs. "We take hair seriously in Texas."
