Nearly two months ago, a source in Los Angeles told us that Clint Eastwood, 62, and his longtime girlfriend, actress Frances Fisher, 40, were expecting a baby. Fisher, through her rep, vehemently denied the story, so we held off. But we kept hearing it. Last week we checked again. Officially, Fisher's rep is "no longer commenting" on the actress' personal life. But we now have every reason to believe that Fisher is indeed pregnant. The baby will be her first and Eastwood's third. (Son Kyle, 24, is a musician, and daughter Allison, 20, is an actress.)...Another Hollywood hand soon to be rocking the cradle will be that of Sherilyn Fenn (Three of Hearts), 26, whose first baby is due in December. Fenn's publicist says the father is a film grip, adding that the couple have no immediate plans to marry.

Forget Schwarzengger and Stallone. Hollywood's newest action heroes are going to be women. A slew of girls-with-weapons movies are being developed for big-name actresses. They include:

•Mistress of the Seas, a swashbuckler about 18th-century female pirate Anne Bonney. Columbia is negotiating with Geena Davis for the starring role. Paul Verhoeven (Basic Instinct) will direct.

•The Quick and the Dead, a western. Tri-Star has signed Sharon Stone to play a woman gunfighter. Filming starts this fall.

•Bad Girls, about prostitutes in the Old West. The producers have lined up Madeleine Slow. Mary Stuart asterson. Drew Barrymore and Andie MacDowell. Shooting begins this month.

•Outlaws, a female-driven western at Columbia that has yet to be cast. A highly placed studio executive in Hollywood justifies the new trend by reasoning "that a woman with a gun in her hand is sexy and therefore potentially big box office."

Who needs the Home Shopping Network? A few days before her recent trip to the Cannes Film Festival, Elizabeth Taylor had handbag designer Lana Marks of Lana of London bring about 40 handbags over to her Beverly Hills home for inspection. According to Marks, Liz bought three of the bags for her trip: a red alligator lunch box for $4,800, a black baby crocodile evening bag for $2,600 and a purple alligator bag—it matched her eyes—for $3,350.

Sony Music chairman Tommy Mottola, 43, and singer Mariah Carey, 23, are getting married this Saturday (June 5) in New York City, and Barbra Streisand is among the celebrities invited to the wedding.

A source of ours recently overheard Mottola jokingly pleading with Streisand, that well-known FOB, "You have to get President Clinton to come. If you don't, Mariah will kill me." Ladies and gentlemen, the eulogies, please.
