Bobby's Kids Heed His Call to Public Service

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, 42, directs the Maryland Student Service Alliance, which oversees school community service projects. She and husband David Townsend, a college professor, have four children: Meaghan, 15, Maeve, 13, Kate, 9, and Kerry, 1.
Joseph P. Kennedy II, 40, a three-term congressman, represents the same Boston-area district that sent John F. Kennedy to Congress in 1947. He was divorced in 1990 after an 11-year marriage to Sheila Rauch, a housing consultant. They share custody of their twin sons, Matthew and Joseph, 12.
Bobby Kennedy Jr., 39, is an attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council and chief litigator for the Hudson Riverkeeper, an environmental watchdog group. He and his wife, attorney Emily Black, live in suburban New York with their two children: Bobby III, 7, and Kathleen, 5.
Mary Courtney Kennedy, 36, is a goodwill ambassador for a Rome-based AIDS pediatric foundation affiliated with the United Nations. She and Jeff Rube, a cable-TV executive, were divorced in 1991.
Michael Kennedy, 35, is chairman of the Boston-based Citizens Energy Corp., founded by his brother Joe, that supplies inexpensive fuel to low-income families. He is married to sports-caster Frank Gilford's daughter, Vicki. They have three children: Michael Jr., 10, Kyle, 8, and Rory, 5.
Christopher Kennedy, 29, is vice president of marketing for the Kennedy-owned Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. He and his wife, attorney Sheila Berner, have two kids: Kate, 2, and Christopher Jr., 11 months.
Maxwell Taylor Kennedy, 28, is an assistant district attorney in Philadelphia and married to Victoria Anne Strauss, a law student.
Douglas Kennedy, 26, a freelance writer in New York City, did some reporting on the presidential campaign last year for the Boston Herald.
Rory Kennedy, 24, a documentary filmmaker in New York, recently coproduced a video about women addicts.
