After nearly 12 years of marriage, Elizabeth Stone, 43, wife of self-promoting director Oliver Stone (JFK), 46, has filed for divorce in L.A. Elizabeth, an ex-film production assistant and Stone's second wife, is asking for custody of sons Sean, 8, and Michael, 1.

Case in point, erstwhile brat-packer Judd Nelson, 33, who was charged with misdemeanor assault on May 19 in Dallas after allegedly kicking a woman in the face—he says it was an accident—as he was leaping over a railing between two outdoor cafes. The woman's tablemates were taunting Nelson about his career. At Nelson's table was Doherty, 22, with whom he recently finished filming Blindfold, a movie. Nelson could face a $3,000 fine or a year in jail. The woman in the case, Kim Evans, 21, underwent medical treatment....

If David lee Roth, 37, is a good rock star all year, the New York City district attorney's office will permanently drop charges against him for allegedly purchasing a $5 bag of marijuana. Roth was charged with the misdemeanor—punishable by a 15-day jail term or a $250 fine—after being arrested during an April 16 drng sweep of Washington Square Park.

Britain's Queen Mother Elizabeth, 92, is recovering after a weekend stay at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary near her holiday residence at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. She went to the infirmary on May 20 to have a piece offish that had become stuck in her throat removed....

Soap star Clint Ritchie, 55, who has played newspaper editor Clint Buchanan on ABC's One Life to Live for 14 years, remained in serious condition last week in a California hospital. Ritchie suffered multiple injuries, including a broken collarbone and ribs and a collapsed lung, when he fell under his tractor while plowing on his ranch in Northern California early last month. One Life's writers have covered Ritchie's absence by having his character recuperate off-camera from an out-of-state plane crash.

Silent movie star Mary Philbin. 90, who played the beautiful singer kidnapped by hideously scarred Lon Chancy in Phantom of the Opera (1925), died in Huntington Beach, Calif., of complications from Alzheimer's disease. A popular film heroine in the '20s, she saw her career end with the advent of talkies....

Classical pianist Mieczyslaw Horszowski, 100, a Polish-born musician whose 90 years of professional playing included accompanying cellist Pablo Casals and performing with Arturo Toscanini, died May 22 of heart failure in Philadelphia....

Paint-by-numbers inventor Max Klein, 77, who began selling his picture kits in 1952 with the slogan Every Man a Rembrandt, died of colon cancer on May 20 in West Bloomfield Township, Mich.
