Gird your loincloths. Nature Boy is back. As Edgar Rice Burroughs's enduring jungle hero, the blondmaned Wolf (Hard Ticket to Hawaii) Larson is the first Tarzan who looks like an escapee from the rock group Whitesnake. Other distinctive touches: Jane (Lydie Denier) has a thick French accent, and there's a native aide (Malick Bowens) who seems to have a Banana Republic charge card.

Larson won't make you forget Johnny Weissmuller. Or even Ron Ely, for that matter. Then again, all he gets to do each week is frown and bark imperatives like, "Cheetah, stay here!" or "Jane, come!"

The series is about as lively as an elephant felled by a tranquilizer dart. But the show does have an ecological slant as polluters and poachers get their comeuppance. That's gotta count for something, bwana.
