So heeere's wife No. 3: Tonight Show second banana Ed McMahon, 69, married advertising executive Pamela Hurn, 37, on Feb. 22 in a spur-of-the-moment ceremony in the chapel of St. Jude's Ranch for Children near Las Vegas. McMahon broke the news of his surprise marriage when he introduced his new bride to Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford on their TV talk show last Monday morning. Lustmeister Harold Robbins, 75, has taken yet another Lonely Lady down the aisle. Robbins, the author of 20 sex-and-money novels, married his former assistant, Jann Stapp, 40, on Valentine's Day at his home in Palm Springs, Calif. It is his sixth marriage, her first.

A Family Affair: After taking him to court, Catherine Falk, 21, has obtained an out-of-court settlement from her father, actor Peter Falk, 63, in which he agreed to pay her college tuition at Syracuse University. Falk and his first wife, Alyce Mayo (from whom he was divorced in 1976), had demanded that Catherine return to Los Angeles and attend college there so she could join them in family counseling. She says the suit boiled down to whether or not her parents would "let me have my own space." For his part, Falk said he loved his daughter, "but this is a family matter, and I prefer to keep it that way."...

San Francisco porn impresario Jim Mitchell, 47, was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter on Feb. 19 in the 1991 killing of his brother and partner-in-porn, Artie, 45. He faces 13 to 17 years in prison.

Barry Diller, 50, abruptly resigned on Feb. 24 as chairman and CEO of Fox Inc., a job that put "Killer Diller" in charge of both Fox TV and Twentieth Century Fox movies. Diller said he wants to have his own company, and there are rumors that he may be considering trying to buy NBC. His responsibilities at Fox will be assumed by Rupert Murdoch, who owns the corporation.

A little joker? Big-time movie star Jack Nicholson, 54, and his steady amour, actress Rebecca Broussard, 27, had their second child, a son they named Raymond Nicholson (8 lbs. 6 oz.), on Feb. 20 in Los Angeles. Nicholson, who was on location in Pittsburgh for the film Hoffa, made it back to Broussard's bedside in the Nich of time. The couple have a 20-month-old daughter, Lorraine.

Famed husband-and-wife sexperts Dr. William H. Masters, 76, and Virginia E. Johnson, 67, who have studied the Great American Libido for 35 years, are getting a divorce. Neither would comment on the reasons for the split, but they did say that they would continue working together at their Masters & Johnson Institute in St. Louis....

Spencer Christian, 44, Good Morning America's weatherman, and his wife, Diane, are divorcing after 21 years of marriage. They have two children.

Singer Jane Pickens Langley Hoving, 83, lead vocalist with the Pickens Sisters, a popular 1930s musical trio with its own radio show, died of heart failure on Feb. 21 in Newport, R.I....

Angela Carter, 51, the British novelist who attracted a cult following with her tales of erotic fantasy, died of cancer on Feb. 16 at her home in London.
