Harry (L.A. Law) Hamlin stars in this fact-based movie as Richard Worthington, a heavily armed Utah man who took a hospital maternity ward hostage in 1991. His reason: an obsessive belief that a doctor's performance there of a tubal ligation on his wife-nine years before had ruined his life. (Worthington and his wife already were parents of eight children.) Teri Garr and Terry O'Quinn costar.
Lucky us: a depiction of an 18-hour hostage situation, with babies in jeopardy. Yes, it's just as overheated, arduous and grim as you might imagine. (In real life, Worthington eventually surrendered and is now imprisoned for, among other charges, murdering a nurse during the ordeal.)
