LUCK WAS CERTALUY A LADY FOR Guys and Dolls, the revived 1950 musical that topped the field at Broadway's Tony Awards. And it didn't do too badly for Glenn Close, who hosted the show from New York City's Gershwin Theater and won Best Actress in a Play for her portrayal of a rape victim in Death and the Maiden. Hosting was "a lot of fun," she admitted later, "but I'll always remember winning."
After the ceremonies came the usual fete and feed, at the nearby Marriott Marquis Hotel. The menu, however, was the last thing on the mind of some stars. Faith Prince, named Best Actress in a Musical for Guys and Dolls, said she had even shunned breakfast earlier in the day, eating only a few bites of the 25 pancakes she had made. "When I'm nervous, I make pancakes," she explained with a shrug.
