As the Emmys Turn

SOMEBODY SHOULD GIVE SUSAN LUCCI an award for doggedness. At the 19th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, the All My Children schemer dodged an Outstanding Actress Emmy for the 13th time (this year losing to Erika Slezak of One Life to Live). Lucci, who co-hosted the June 23 soapstar-studded ceremony with Phil Donahue, con-tented herself with a standing-O from the crowd of 1,500 and gamely proclaimed her unlucky 13th "an evening I'll never forget." During the awards dinner at the Sheraton New York Hotel, Outstanding Talk Show Host winner Oprah Winfrey, Outstanding Supporting Actress Maeve Kinkead (Guiding Light) and others mingled with the also-rans and munched on filet mignon, arugula and sorbet. As for Lucci, "She'll be back next year," promised Donahue. "Then it'll be time for the bubbly."
