Three orphaned sisters were placed in different homes as girls. A private detective (Perry King) is charged with locating and reuniting them 30 years later.
Jaclyn Smith is a New York TV executive hiding from her nightmarish past. Patricia Kalember is the rooster-pecked wife of a Southern politician and doesn't know she was adopted. Claudia Christian is a California doctor trying to start her own family.
Colleen Dewhurst and Donald Moffat also star in this shallow saga that starts out streamlined but grows increasingly sappy and sluggish. The mystery about the parents' death is completely uninvolving, mainly because the crucial flashback scenes are so dull.
