With some tinkering this series could work. The Walsh family (Mom, Dad, two teens) moves from Minnesota to the tony life of Beverly Hills. The producers wisely skipped the fish-out-of-water scenarios already beaten plumb to death by the Clampetts.
This series, focusing on the social entanglements of the kids (nicely played by Jason Priestley and Shannen Doherty), wants to be sixteensomething. If the writers cut some of the whining messages, stereotypes and overlong scenes, they might have a winner—though opposite Cheers, it's unlikely.
At least Priestley, wasted on Sister Kate last season, is a shoo-in to make Fox's young female audience forget Richard Grieco and Johnny Depp.
