The breezy cartoon series takes a dark turn in this live-action version. Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michaelangelo—actors in turtle suits—are still wiseacre, pizza-gobbling heroes. But seeing them demolish real humans and seeing a real April get punched around is more distressing than animated mayhem. (LIVE)

DON'T ASK: Q&A Q: Is there anything good in this film about Timothy Hutton fighting corrupt New York City cop Nick Nolte? A: Armand Assante is suave as a villain, and a big shootout (Nolte waltzing into a police station and getting caught) is good for a laugh. (HBO)
