This playful new series set in San Francisco is an attempt to re-create the comedy-adventure mix of Remington Steele. The female star, newcomer Jessica Lundy, even resembles Stephanie Zimbalist with bigger hair. She's an aspiring reporter who enlists the reluctant Edward (The Equalizer) Woodward to help her solve the crimes she stumbles across. He's a struggling mystery writer with a Scotland Yard background. Both leads get nice character touches. She's an irrepressible motorcycle rider whose father is a 49ers coach. He's a singing detective, running on an alternating current of bluster and vanity. Woodward brings to the role an unexpectedly vigorous comedic touch. The show can be a rather fatuous frolic, but it does pass the time gently.
