Casual and a little on the ragged side, this album is what you might hear if there were two guys in your garage practicing their guitars—and they happened to be two of the best guitar players in the world.
The country master and his rock acolyte strum, noodle, riff and sing their way through an eccentric collection. They're most enjoyable when they exchange guitar solos, as they do on "There'll Be Some Changes Made," and least enjoyable when they sing in silly fashion, which they do on the same song.
While Mark O'Connor, Steve Wariner and Vince Gill string along on various backup instruments, the main men are the attraction, going pick to pick in one of those rare confrontations where everybody wins. (Columbia)
