Miller's usual gig as host of "Weekend Update" on Saturday Night Live strains my stamina. I can manage to avoid dozing off until then most weeks, but I konk out right after Miller's bit because I know the show isn't likely to get any funnier.

This deliciously cynical performance is sure worth staying up for. Flick, flick, flick. Miller snaps his barbed tongue, eviscerating everything from female flight attendants to the New Kids on the Block to the SPORTS ILLUSTRATED sneaker phone commercials.

The man is like a pop-culture encyclopedia, spraying out references to books (from Boo Radley to Queequeg) and TV (Kitty Carlisle to Linda Kelsey). Okay, Dennis, this is one of the year's most wickedly funny specials. Can I go to bed now?
