Olivia Newton-John makes her TV-movie debut as a mannequin turned into a flesh-and-blood woman through the Christmas wish of a girl (Juliet Sorcey) who wants a mom. This feeble fable is like the NBC movie that had Vanna White as a statue of Venus brought to life—only it provides fewer laughs.

Playing the breathless sprite is more than a little of a stretch for the 42-year-old Newton-John. Doug (Day by Day) Sheehan, as the workaholic father, and Doris (Remington Steele) Roberts, as the wizardess who makes it all possible, hold up their end, but the result is still flimsy.
