Parton comes back to the network where she got her chestnuts so badly roasted on that ill-fated variety series, but this time she keeps a more watchful eye on her assets. "Listen," she says as she strolls through Dollywood, her Tennessee theme park. "I think I hear me singing."
Most of the show is devoted to plugging her Christmas record and her Smoky Mountain resort. Then it's back home to celebrate with 30 or 40 Partons. Dolly looks great, and she's as irrepressible as ever, but on the hokum scale, this show exceeds even those old King Family specials we used to be subjected to this time of year.
