This marvelous collection of old Capitol recordings (none from later than 1963) contains such hits as the definitive Margaret Whiting-Jimmy Wakely "Silver Bells."

The highlight, though, is a rollicking version of "Christmas Blues" by Julia Lee. It's a delightful David Holt-Sammy Cahn tune that's a lament for those women to whom the holidays less often mean joy than loneliness: "Santa. Santa/ You're all through work on Christmas Day/ I could go for your long whiskers/ You might drop by and plan to stay." (Capitol)
