Here's another TV rarity: a sci-fi thriller. Lisa Hartman is a crackerjack electrical engineer. Santa Barbara's A Martinez is the sheriff in a small town that is showered with meteors. Out of one crawls this alien thingamabob that starts out looking like a charred lobster claw but grows to resemble a giant whale fluke as it feeds on living creatures and electrical lines.
The wasp-waisted Hartman and the chiseled Martinez have the charm beams set on high, and they're backed by Tracey (Repo Man) Walter, Pat Hingle, Cary-Hiroyoki Tagawa and Luke Edwards. But retarded by plot and pace—I've seen episodes of Swamp Thing hang together better—the movie never achieves escapist velocity.
