While Armand Assante has been in prison, his girlfriend (Marcia Gay Harden of Miller's Crossing) has taken up with a lawyer, played by Sam Neill. When Harden is abducted, the con and the lawyer must reluctantly work together to save her.
Joe Spano, Gregg Henry, Jonathan Gries and Tim Ransom costar in this diverting crook caper.
One quibble: As a recovering junkie who works in the rehab clinic, would Harden really be unwinding after work drinking whiskey in a bar?
In its style and pace—not to mention its uncalled-for brutality—this offering, directed by Larry Elikann, has a feature-film tone. A B-film, unquestionably, but cineplex-suitable nonetheless.
