Karl, convicted in 1988 of making illegal campaign contributions to Gary Hart's 1984 presidential campaign, filed for bankruptcy in 1989....
Cincinnati Reds mascot Schottzie, 9, a Saint Bernard owned by Reds owner Marge Schott, was put to sleep on Aug. 7 because she was suffering from incurable bone cancer. The dog was buried wearing her Reds cap.
Reach Out and Touch Someone: Former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson, 25, has been hit with a $21 million lawsuit that accuses him of being a "serial buttocks fondler." J. Morris Anderson, promotor of last July's 1991 Miss Black America Pageant, claims Tyson molested 10 of 23 contestants at the pageant, in Indianapolis. Last year's Miss Black America, Rosie Jones, 27, is also suing the pugilist for $100 million on similar charges. Additionally, a grand jury is hearing testimony on allegations that Tyson raped another contestant in a hotel room.
Revlon chairman Ronald Perelman, 48, and wife Claudia Cohen, 40, gossip maven on Live with Regis & Kathy Lee, have reportedly split after six years of marriage. They have a 16-month-old daughter, Samantha. A spokesman for the couple had no comment.
Jokesmith Jackie Mason, 60-plus, wed his manager, Jyll Rosenfeld, 37, on Aug. 14 in a small ceremony in her Manhattan apartment. It was his first marriage, her second.
British actor Gary (State of Grace) Oldman, 33, was arrested for drunk driving on Aug. 8 in Los Angeles after police stopped him and passenger Kiefer Sutherland, 24. Oldman is scheduled to be arraigned on Sept. 9 and faces up to six months in jail and a possible $1,000 fine.
Tying the Knots: Ted Shackelford, 45, who has played bland Gary Ewing on Knots Landing for 11 years, plans to many Hollywood power publicist Annett Wolf, 32, in Denmark this October. Why Denmark? Wolf, who represents such stars as Delta Burke, Kiefer Sutherland and Patrick Swayze, was born there. Both Shackelford and Wolf have been married once before.
