Coming aboard as the TV critic after the season has already been launched turns out to be a blessing. It has saved me the aggravation of having to rail against the weakest batch of network shows in many a fall. Even the programs that seemed promising, like The Famous Teddy Z and Life Goes On, are fizzling out, proving that a slick pilot does not a quality series make. But I have arrived in time for the November sweeps, and any week that brings a quorum of Charlie's Angels and a former Beatle to prime time can't be bad. So, gentle reader, let's get to it.
